Dr. A.2. Goodrich addressed the Canton Rotary Club.
Dr. E.2. Poodrich, adviser of the Thampoa Port
Development Administration addressed the Rotary Club
of Canton on "The Plan of thepoa Port" at the
Regular Club Beeting on September 8, 1937. The
Speech is as following:

After two months of intensive work, with an
exceptionally good staff and with more than one hundred
percent of cooperation from a very large mumber of
Chinese and foreign officials, so such proɛreas has been made in reaching conclusions and in developing a design
for the shampoa Port development and for the Sort City, that it seemed wise to embrace this opportunity to make
public the several fundamental conclusions which have
been reached, and the progress which has been made with
the plans.
Smploying, among others, the methods outlined
in my first talk, we studied the past population of
China for 500 years and its rate of growth. did the
same for Kwangtung Province for 950 years; also for the
city of Canton over its history.

The rate of growth of Xwan tung Province has
paralleled that of China, but the population of Canton
has mot followed that of the Province. It was relatively
